I was waiting for the strong dudes to come and carry the washer upstairs, so I got bored and logged onto a dating site. This site has a cool option where you can answer questions and can also chat about your answers with a couple of your matches. Since I wasn't serious about the dating thing at all, I played around a bit.

So. Today's saucy question:

Does anybody know what can cause a sudden inability to type in Excel 2007? And how I fix it?


ETA: I rebooted and that took care of that... I still want to know what happened, though! Anyone?

GRRRRRRR!!!

After a lot of back-and-forth-ing, my Dell laptop was almost completely fixed. The audio was SHITTY to say the least, and they sent a tech to fix that today.

To my surprise, the tech said that the shitty sound was just the speakers and that it couldn't be fixed. He was optimistic, however, that my account manager and I could find a solution. As was tech support who called me back to check if the problem was solved.

I called my account manager, told him my issues and that frankly, this crappy sound was unacceptable because I also have to work on my laptop and I need to hear audio properly, and he was all, 'nope, sorry, can't do anything.' After I got shirty with him (because, hello, I spent €1000 on that thing and they just sent me a laptop that had all sorts of problems to begin with, and craptastic, totally inferior sound, and then they can't do anything?) he said he could offer a reduction on external speakers. Which was NOT what I wanted, but whatever, since, GET THIS:

I can't return the computer because they have a seven-day return policy but that only applies to home users and I JUST ADMITTED THAT I USE IT FOR WORK, SO THERE!

*insert inventive curses here*

So, I reluctantly accept his offer, only to find that he can only offer me reduction if I BUY ANOTHER FUCKING LAPTOP!!!

What the FUCK, Dell? I feel so screwed, it's not even funny anymore. The damn thing is fucking inferior. The money I paid was supposed to be an investment in my future. So that I could keep working.

Dell has now officially lost all goodwill it had with me and I'm afraid it's kicked me a couple of inches further, over the edge into depression. Not that I had a lot to go. I'm going to have a good cry, and if you're thinking of buying a Dell Studio laptop, read this entry again. Please.
